If you’re a beginner. Probably you would be in the place of confusion to choose a list of study materials to start your preparation right now.
I have seen year by year, because of the variety of study materials availability in the market, without any prior experience. Students struggles a lot to choose study materials.
So, if this is the case of you. don’t confuse anymore. I have created a comprehensive list of study materials to gear up your preparation.
For Indian Polity – Indian Polity by M Laxmikanth (Tata McGraw Hill Publication)
For Geography – New and Old Ncert 11th and 12th class books
For History – History of Modern India by Bipan Chandra ( Orient Black Swan Publication)
For World History – Refer both New and Old Ncert books 9th and 10th class.
For Post Independence History – India after Independence by Bipin Chandra ( Penguin Publication)
For Ethics – Read the syllabus and previous year question papers _ find topics, case study online _ for this subject you don’t need to prepare so much. You need to develop rational thinking and a good attitude.
For environment and ecology – Read Environment section in Hindu or any coaching institute notes. but notes are not necessary, if you read current affairs.
Science and Technology – Read science and technology or any coaching institute notes. but notes are not necessary if you read current affairs.
India year book publishing by Division of Govt of India. This book is useful for an overview of government scheme and plans for an entire year, but if you have the habit reading and taking notes from Hindu then this book is not necessary.
Above said study materials are enough for both prelims and mains preparation.
Over the time as you gain experience, if you want to, add other books to your list.
